Horizon of Hope Show

Include a sheet of paper with 8 lines on it when passing out your catalogs, flyers, and order forms. Have the guests write their name on the top line of the paper and the names of their seven closest friends or family members on the remaining lines.

Just before introducing the Horizon of Hope Basket, inform them that one in every eight women is diagnosed with breast cancer. Have them look at their list . . . who will it be? This has a really big impact on people!

Introduce the Horizon of Hope Basket and explain how Longaberger is committed to supporting breast cancer research and that $2 from the sale of every Horizon of Hope Basket will be donated to the cause. Encourage them to book a show in July or August to show their support in the fight against breast cancer. They already have a list of at least seven people to invite!

Getting to the Point Show

Give each guest a small piece of paper to keep track of their earned points.

1. Give yourself one point if you liked history in school. (Talk about company history, the fact that the baskets are American-made, J.W. Longaberger, Dave, and your history as a consultant.)
2. Give yourself a point if you like having choices. (Talk about choices of basket styles, pottery colors, fabric collections, and career choices.)
3. Give yourself a point if you always forget to take back library books or videos. (Talk about the Medium Market Basket and how it can be kept at the front door for errand items.)
4. Give yourself a point if you know someone moving into a new home. (Talk about the Bread Basket as a house-warming gift.)
5. Give yourself a point if you have a home office. (Talk about the Bakers Rack and Shelf on a desk with the Address Basket and phone on the bottom, Bread Basket on top for organizing.)
6. Give yourself a point if you believe the best gifts come in small packages. (Talk about the Booking Baskets.  "One of these will be my gift to (hostesses name) if she has 2 or more bookings!")
7. Give yourself a point if you think the easiest dinners can be made in one dish. (Talk about the 9x13 baking dish, describe the pottery line and its features.)
8. Give yourself a point if you will be the Hostess of a party this year. (Talk about the Serving Solutions Basket -- perfect hot plate for the baking dish.)
9. Give yourself a point if you own a Betty Crocker cookbook. (Talk about the Recipe Baskets for those that don't and would rather clip recipes from magazines.)
10. Give yourself a point if you are a tea drinker. (Talk about the Tea Basket which is also perfect for makeup, cotton balls, and cotton swabs with divided protector.)
11. Give yourself a point if you love to find a good sale. (Talk about the Hostess Program and the Half-Price Program.)
12. Give yourself a point if you have a collection of any kind. (Talk about the Collectors Club -- one of the top 5 collectibles clubs in the country.)
13. Give yourself a point if you are looking for your "pot of gold" at the end of the rainbow. (Talk about the Longaberger opportunity.)

At the end of the presentation everyone adds up their points and the person with the most wins a small prize.

Purse Search Show

Write each of the following on a 3x5 index card:

R

Retiring Items

M

Maple
L Lids
F Fabric
B Booking
W Wrought Iron
P Pottery
S Success Start
H Hostess Only
C Collectors Club

You can use the cards in any order you choose. As you say the letter on the card, the guests search through their purses to find an item that begins with that letter. The first to find an item gets the card. Once the card has been awarded, talk about the product named on that card. Continue until all the cards are awarded. The guest with the most cards receives a small gift. This presentation moves quickly and is a lot of fun for the guests!

Hostess Star Hunt

Put a star sticker on a few of the invitations you're sending to prospective guests for a home show. (Write down those names!) When hostess coaching (after the invitations have been mailed), tell your hostess that you have placed a star on some of her invitations. Her challenge is to find out who her "Star" guests are before her show!

Encourage her to call each invited guest to find out if they have a star on their invitation. This is a perfect opportunity to remind them to come and to bring a guest, or to obtain an outside order or show booking. This alleviates the awkwardness a hostess may feel when she has to call her guests to see if they're coming.

When the "Star" guests attend the party and bring their invitation with the star, they receive a small gift. If the Hostess can identify all of her "Stars" she receives a small gift also.

Short and Sweet Show

The Short and Sweet Show revolves around shorts and all forms of shorts. All attendees are asked to wear shorts. You do the show wearing shorts. The invitations are presented on cutout paper shorts. The Wish List and all materials at the Show are presented in a pair of children's shorts (go to your local Odd Lots or discount store -- you can get them for about $1) - simply sew the bottom of the legs together and it creates a handy little pouch for presentation. Your hostess should serve Shortcake for dessert.

Basically, anything having to do with "short/s" will work. Something as simple as this can trigger interest in holding a show. The promise of "short and sweet" will go far in encouraging attendance!
